The George Washington University
Volleyball Club is composed of male and female
students, faculty, and staff
of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. who
like to play competitive volleyball.
This includes men and women who simply like to play on
an occasional basis during scheduled drop-in open playing
times,
\as well as those who want to play on a men's or women's
team and compete against other similar teams.
There are no dues or other obligations to join, and
anyone -- male or female -- who can play competitive (bump,
set, & spike) volleyball
is welcome to come as they wish to the HWC [not Club] coed
open playing sessions. [see above]

GENERAL PLAYING PRACTICES AND
PROCEDURES
RECOMMENDED BY THE CLUB BUT NOT REQUIRED
FALL
'12 Open Play Sessions, Tues & Thurs,
3:00-4:30 PM, Wellness Center
Rally scoring, 25
points to win unless at least 1 team is waiting to
play
Up to 2 additional players can be
"worked on" to each playing team if necessary
Players will be
"worked in" at the server's position upon rotation
so
go stand there (and no where else) if you are
waiting to join that team
If players exceed that number, we
go to additional teams, and games to 15 points
A ball hitting the net on
serve is "good" and must be played
A ball hitting the
ceiling or ceiling members can be played on that side
only
For more information about the above,
and also including the rules
regarding kicking the ball, blocking a serve,
what kind of offensives and
defensive patterns are generally used when we play,
etc.,
